Tyres from the past with today’s performance

If Yokohama offers more and more alternatives for modern vehicles such as SUVs, the tyre manufacturer has not forgotten yesterday’s models. At Geneva, the Japanese manufacturer has announced a tyre specially designed for classic cars from the 1960s and the 1970s: the G.T.Special Classic.

This new tyre is based on Yokohama’s former product, the Yokohama G.T. Special Y350. It has the same design and tread pattern but comes with present day performances. It will deliver a safe drive, without losing the feel of a historical car.

The first Yokohama range to use radial tyres, the G.T. Special was introduced in 1967 and accompanied the launch of several Japanese and European vehicles at the time. For this revival of the classic cars tyre range, Yokohama uses its latest production and compound technologies for enhanced driveability and safety.

The launch of this new “old” tyre is part of Yokohama’s medium term management called “Grand Design 2020”. As such, the Japanese tyre manufacturer intends to launch and develop a tyre solution for “hobby” vehicles: from racing cars to classic cars.
