Product description

Designed for medium and high-performance saloons, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre combines safety, performance and respect for the environment.

Environment. The tyre's strengths:

  • Low rolling resistance with Energy™ Efficient technology that reduces fuel consumption and hence CO2 emissions;
  • Reduced dispersion of aromatic oils in the tread thanks to Clean Air technology.
  • Good longevity.

Driving. Asymmetric profile to increase grip in corners and ensure good road-holding on dry and wet surfaces.

Safety. Tyre has wider blocks on the outer shoulder to ensure high stability in bends and smaller blocks on the inner shoulders to evacuate water; wide centre grooves for effective water evacuation.

PIRELLI TARGETS SAFETY WITH THE CINTURATO P7 TYRE

The Pirelli tyre brand is launching its new Cinturato P7. Featuring high technology, it improves performance levels by delivering more grip. This tyre offers increased safety, suitable for all drivers and targets greater energy efficiency thanks to its lightweight construction. And for the tyre market, it is a breath of fresh air.

An intelligent tyre

With the aim of continuing to perfect the previous generation of the Cinturato P7, Pirelli commissioned a survey among a sample of drivers using tyres in the 18-inch size or higher.

The drivers surveyed still placed the priority on optimum safety which depends on the quality of the tyre they want to buy.

For several years, Pirelli has worked in close partnership with premium carmakers such as BMW, Volvo and Jaguar to satisfy its customers.

To this end, engineers from the Italian brand have pushed technological innovations further to make the  Cinturato P7 even more ingenious. Only one objective: overcome performance comprises with a new tyre featuring “mechanical intelligence”.

The tread pattern is enriched with silica, specific resins and polymers whose particles interact with each other. This technology associated with a re-engineered tread pattern with longitudinal and lateral grooves, specific shoulders and a better distribution of blocks provide an optimum balance of performances to:

  • adapt to ambient temperatures and driving conditions which vary depending on the driver
  • improve road grip
  • evacuate water quickly
  • reduce braking distances, as much as possible, in wet and dry conditions
  • maintain grip when cornering
  • enhance ride comfort
  • reduce tyre noise
  • deliver a high mileage

Homologated tyre, a driving aid

The intelligence of the new Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyre does not stop there. As a result of its partnerships with car brands, Pirelli can make the tyre “communicate” with electronic driving aids (like ABS.). With a vehicle fitted with the right size of tyres, braking distances can be significantly shorter thanks to the Cinturato P7 tread pattern which works in synergy with the ABS to brake sooner.

Also, a Cinturato P7 tyre bearing the car manufacturer’s marking or which is fitted as original equipment on a vehicle (Audi, Seat, Alfa Romeo, Volkswagen, etc.) will be easily detected by the car’s lane departure system. As such, the electronic system will have no problem identifying the tyre.

But, do these new innovations have an impact on fuel consumption?

A lighter, more efficient tyre

The mechanical intelligence of the Cinturato P7 tyre has not resulted in a product requiring more material. On the contrary, the Pirelli product stands out with its reduced weight to address environmental concerns and save motorists money. And, a lighter tyre starts a chain reaction:

  • decreased rolling resistance
  • lower fuel consumption.
  • fuel savings
  • reduced environmental impact

With the arrival of its new high performance tyre, Pirelli has taken the opportunity to communicate on its recently launched “Elect” range: a technology tailored for new vehicle models. The Cinturato P7 will be available in an Elect version for electric and hybrid cars, just like the RunFlat and Seal Inside technologies.

Available tyre sizes

The Cinturato P7 is a summer tyre for compact cars, passenger cars, SUVs and crossovers with 16-inch rims or higher. The number of homologations with a carmaker marking is expected to reach 100 by the end of 2020.

What is the rezulteo score?

The rezulteo score is calculated considering three performance categories: economy, comfort and safety. When it comes to winter tyres, the performance criteria snow and ice are added. By weighting different basic performance criteria an overall score is determined. This weighting is calculated based on the tyre size category: economic, high performance or sports.
