2017 has come to a close. For those of you who haven’t had chance to read all our articles on new products over the past year, here’s an opportunity to catch up! We bring you the top 10 highlights of the year in tyres.
1 - Michelin Pilot Sport 4S: the arrival of a new benchmark sports tyre
2017 got off to a strong start with Michelin announcing the launch of the seriously sporty Pilot Sport 4S to replace the Pilot Super Sport.

2 - rezulteo tests Pirelli winter tyres on luxury cars
In February, our test driver hit the slopes at the Ski World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland. However, he wasn't there to enjoy the powder snow, but to test two Pirelli tyres behind the wheel of a Maserati Ghibli, a Porsche Carrera 4S, a Bentley Continental GT, a Bentayga and a Maserati Levante. 3 - Geneva International Motor Show 2017: future tyres take pride of place
The Geneva Motor Show, always eagerly anticipated by car enthusiasts, saw several concept tyres presented in 2017, notably by Goodyear with its Eagle 360 Urban and Intelligrip Urban. As for Pirelli, they launched the Connesso application that gives the real-time status of tyres.
4 - Continental finally enters the all season tyre market with the launch of the AllSeasonContact
The last leading tyre manufacturer not to have a tyre in this increasingly popular segment, Continental announced the release of the AllSeasonContact for all drivers facing mild winter conditions.

5 - Michelin Vision : the concept tyre that regenerates itself
Engaged in the fight against planned obsolescence, Michelin presented its concept tyre named “Vision” during the Global Summit on Sustainable Mobility. Airless and biodegradable, it can recharge itself and change its tread design to adapt to driving conditions.

6 - IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show : new products and a few surprises
Frankfurt is an unmissable event for tyre manufacturers presenting new products, but we were not expecting quite so many surprises! On home turf, Continental exhibited its ContiSense and ContiAdapt concept technologies while announcing the launch of a winter sports tyre, the WinterContact TS 860 S. As for Michelin, the French manufacturer announced the launch of the Primacy 4, planned for 2018.
7 - Tyre Safety Month puts the focus on under-inflated tyres
October was UK Tyre Safety Month. Organised by the charity Tyre Safe, this year's event encouraged drivers to check their tyre pressure more regularly with the question “are you having a good or bad air day?”

8 - Five Years of European tyre labelling
Now more or less accepted by consumers, the EU tyre label was first introduced 5 years ago.

9 - 2018 Pirelli Calendar
What would Pirelli be without its famous Calendar? The 45th edition of the Cal’ directed by British photographer Tim Walker is a new take on “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”.

10 - AutoBild tests worn all season tyres
While there’s nothing unusual about a tyre test, AutoBild has spiced things up a bit with its latest all season tyre comparison. What’s new? The German magazine has tested different tyres at three stages of wear: new, and with tread depths of 4 mm and 2 mm.
