The Cooper Discoverer Winter 4x4 tyre offers SUVs better grip, braking and handling performance than its predecessor in winter conditions.

DISCOVERER WINTER: FOR EXTREME CONDITIONS

The Discoverer Winter, developed at Cooper’s European Technical Centre, has been designed to meet the needs of European drivers during the coldest months of the year.

Manufactured in the UK, the Discoverer Winter was subjected to punishing acceleration and braking tests to ensure that it can deliver the best winter performance. These tests were carried out on snow and ice, above the Arctic Circle in Sweden and Finland.

Former Formula 1 driver, and Cooper brand ambassador, David Coulthard, who was involved in the development programme for the Discoverer Winter stated that, “It is the dependable SUV tyre for better grip, handling and braking in winter conditions. Even for this type of vehicle, choosing the right tyre is critical. In winter, it is my priority to keep me and my passengers safe. This is what the Discoverer Winter is designed for”.

A high technology tyre

According to Cooper, the tyre’s circumferential snow groove technology combined with an alternating serrated edge on the snow grooves on the centre of the tyre give the Discoverer Winter superior grip on snow. 

The tyre’s silica tread compound means that this grip capability also extends to wet conditions, slush and ice. In addition, the directional tread pattern prevents water from accumulating under the tyre.

Cooper’s “3D Micro-Gauge” siping keeps the tread blocks stable under the weight of the tyre, while controlling the amount of heat generation of the compound. The result is a tyre offering better on-road handling, enhanced braking and a higher mileage.
