Product description

Winter tyre developed for a wide range of vehicles, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 guarantees a high level of safety on wet, icy and snow-covered roads.

Winter. The tread pattern of the Blizzak LM005 with deep grooves at the shoulders has been designed to transfer traction forces when driving in snowy and icy conditions. 3D sipes on the shoulders combined with 2D sipes on the centre of the tread help reduce braking distances on snow and ice. Zig-zag grooves improve grip between trapped snow and snow on the road. The tread compound uses Bridgestone’s Nano Pro-Tech technology which offers a better dispersion of silica to remain flexible on cold surfaces and deliver a high level of performance in winter.

Rain. Water is quickly dispersed through the central and transverse grooves to reduce braking distances and deliver more grip when cornering on wet roads. This results in an A-rating on the tyre label.

BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK LM005 WINTER TYRE: SAFETY FOR ALL IN WINTER

Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone has unveiled its new Blizzak LM005 winter tyre. Available next winter, it will cover most sizes for passenger cars and SUVs on the market.

A tyre built for European winters

After unveiling the Turanza T005 summer tyre a year ago, Bridgestone is now launching its new generation of winter tyres, the Blizzak LM005. As with its summer tyre, the Japanese tyre brand has focused on the expectations of European consumers before developing the replacement of the Blizzak LM001. 20,000 drivers across Europe were surveyed on their priorities for a winter tyre. The consensus of this study: offer a good balance between control and safety in all winter conditions, especially on snow and ice.

New technologies committed to safety

For the new Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 winter tyre, engineers from the Japanese brand have developed in synergy between a new tread compound and an optimised tread design. The “Nano Pro-tech” compound with a high silica content – already used on the Turanza T005 – brings a very high level of performance in wet and snowy conditions. It is this compound that allows the Blizzak LM005 to keep its elasticity even at low temperatures for better traction and constant performance in all winter conditions.

The tread design has also been engineered to produce an optimum result. Lateral sipes enhance the tyre’s digging mechanism on snow and ice, to improve stability and braking performance on these surfaces. Deep grooves on the tread efficiently drain water while trapping snow under the tyre to deliver extra grip with snow on the road.

Tested and approved by TÜV SÜD, an independent test organisation

Bridgestone subjected its new Blizzak LM005 winter tyre to independent tests to compare it with its main competitors. The German test organisation TÜV SÜD concluded that it ranked in the top two for traction and braking on snow, as well as for ice braking performance.

The Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 is the first winter tyre to achieve an A-rating for wet grip for its full line-up.This rating is confirmed by the TÜV SÜD test which shows the superiority of this tyre in wet braking and cornering tests.

The Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 winter tyre is available since 2019 in 116 sizes for 14” to 22” rim diameters and 40 other sizes followed in 2020. 24 popular sizes are also available with the DriveGuard Run-Flat technology which allows drivers to continue driving in the event of a puncture.

What is the rezulteo score?

The rezulteo score is calculated considering three performance categories: economy, comfort and safety. When it comes to winter tyres, the performance criteria snow and ice are added. By weighting different basic performance criteria an overall score is determined. This weighting is calculated based on the tyre size category: economic, high performance or sports.
