Always ready to conduct tests, Auto Bild reviews its latest tests of summer tyres. The German magazine has combined the results of its last five tests of summer and all season tyres to determine the brand whose tyres have the shortest braking distances on all surfaces. And it is Michelin who is crowned tyre manufacturer of the year 2019. SUV, sports, city and passenger cars: tyres from the French brand have performed consistently in Auto Bild tests. Close behind, the Pirelli and Goodyear tyres which have relatively short wet and dry braking distances in summer conditions.
In Auto Bild’s 2018 all season tyre tests for SUVs, the Michelin CrossClimate SUV has the shortest braking distance of all the tyres tested, whether for wet or dry braking, ahead of the Vredestein Quatrac 5 and the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons SUV Gen-2.
In the 2019 test of summer tyres for SUVs, Michelin was not selected since the Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre was not yet launched. It is the Continental Premium Contact 6 and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres, exactly equal in combined dry and wet tests, which have the shortest braking distances. They are followed by the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125.
