VREDESTEIN WINTRAC PRO: WINTER TYRE FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE VEHICLES

The Wintrac Pro winter tyre is designed for sports cars with 17-inch rims and above. Vredestein clearly wants to equip powerful cars with an ultra high performance tyre. The tyre sports an elegant design, created in collaboration with the car design company Italdesign Giugiaro, which has worked on vehicles such as the Maserati Coupe and the famous DeLorean DMC-12.

New advanced technologies

In the development of its new tyre, Vredestein focused on winter safety. With the Wintrac Pro, the tyre manufacturer announces a 10% improvement in wet braking compared to its predecessor, the Wintrac xTremeS. This is due to an optimised tread pattern and direction of grooves in the centre area. The long and oval shaped footprint is designed to improve wet performance by clearing water more easily, a feature that the manufacturer says allows the Wintrac Pro to deliver more responsive steering and better cornering. 

According to Vredestein, the high sipe density on the shoulder blocks and sharp angled grooves improve handling performance on snow by 15% compared to the tyre’s predecessor, while the tyre’s tread compound, containing a resin combined with high silica content improves handling and braking performance in wet, snow and icy conditions.

Availability

The Vredestein Wintrac Pro winter tyre is available in 35 sizes for 17 to 21-inch rim diameters. It obtains a B-grade for wet grip on the EU tyre label in all sizes. For rolling resistance it obtains an E-grade in most available sizes.
