Product description

Tyre developed by Hankook’s engineers for high performance cars, the Ventus S1 Evo 3 combines superior handling and steering precision with efficient wet grip.

Sportiness. The asymmetric tread design and the new tread compound which uses natural resins work together to provide optimum dry braking performance and steering precision. Precise, stable cornering thanks to the stiffness of the outer tread. The aramid cap ply improves handling stability at high speed.

Safety. The silica tread compound with a better distribution of polymers delivers shorter wet braking distances. Water is quickly evacuated through four straight grooves to improve grip in wet weather and reduce the risk of aquaplaning.

Fuel efficiency. The tread compound and sidewall technology lowers rolling resistance and reduces energy losses.

HANKOOK RENEWS ITS UHP TYRE LINE-UP WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE VENTUS S1 EVO 3

Hankook introduces its new UHP tyre for passenger cars and SUVs. With the Ventus S1 evo 3, it wants to become the market benchmark tyre.

Completely redesigned UHP tyre

With the launch of the Ventus S1 evo 3, Hankook intends renewing its flagship range of “S1 evo” UHP tyres from early 2019. For this third generation of tyres, the South Korean tyre manufacturer has placed the focus on safety, not forgetting longevity and fuel consumption.

A motorsport derived technology

It is at its European test centre in Hanover, Germany that Hankook tested and improved its new UHP tyre. The South Korean tyre manufacturer has built on its research in motorsports, particularly in the DTM (German Touring Car Championship).

For the Ventus S1 evo 3, Hankook has developed a new tread compound. The use of high performance natural resins offers optimised performance in wet and dry conditions. These resins increase grip over a wide range of temperatures. A high grip full silica compound has been added through a new special mixing technology to allow a better distribution of materials in the tyre. Hankook says that these new technologies significantly improve braking performance in the wet. In particular, they also help lower rolling resistance thanks to the compound used for the tyre’s sidewall which has been re-designed.

The structure has an aramid cap ply that allows the tyre to keep its shape even at high speed, compared with traditional nylon based fabrics. As such, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 offers significantly better driving stability and a longer life. This cap ply also improves cornering forces by 5% compared with its predecessor. A characteristic enhanced by sipes in the centre tread, which increase the area in contact with the road.

Solid lateral blocks have been reinforced, particularly on the outer ribs of the asymmetric tread, so that the Ventus S1 evo 3 provides precise and stable handling when cornering. The 4-channel tread design reduces the risk of aquaplaning and increases wet grip without causing any loss of performance in dry conditions.

Availability

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 is available since early 2019 in Europe. It covers 72 sizes for 17 to 22-inch rim diameters and will also be available in an adapted version for SUVs. Hankook has also announced that the tyre has already received original equipment approval from German car makers for their latest models.

What is the rezulteo score?

The rezulteo score is calculated considering three performance categories: economy, comfort and safety. When it comes to winter tyres, the performance criteria snow and ice are added. By weighting different basic performance criteria an overall score is determined. This weighting is calculated based on the tyre size category: economic, high performance or sports.
