GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 3 SUV: ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE FOR SUVS

American tyre manufacturer Goodyear has announced the launch of the SUV version of its Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 summer tyre, a tyre designed to deliver braking performance in all conditions.

Efficient braking on all surfaces

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is now available for SUVs. While the passenger car version, released in 2016, already offered significant improvements over its predecessor, the new SUV version for this fast-growing vehicle segment will come with some additional features.

 All sizes of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV will come with “Active Braking” technology. This innovation increases the tyre’s contact surface with the road when braking, meaning that it can deliver more grip. The result is shorter braking distances in both wet and dry conditions.

Goodyear has also developed a new rubber compound featuring “Grip Booster Technology” with a tread that easily adapts to the road surface. The use of adhesive resin increases the tyre’s stickiness with the road to provide better braking performance and a safer drive.

Thanks to these innovations, the braking distances of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV on wet and dry roads are at least 1.2 metres shorter than those of its competitors, according to tests conducted by the independent test organisation, TÜV SÜD.

This all makes satisfying reading for Mike Rytokoski, Marketing Director for Goodyear Europe. “Braking is one of the most important aspects of a tyre, especially on wet roads”, he said at the launch of the new SUV tyre.  “That’s why we are delighted that tests show that our Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV has such a significant shorter braking distance on wet and dry roads compared to our main competitors”, he added.

Ride comfort and stability

Goodyear engineers have focused on adapting the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV’s structure for use on heavier and faster vehicles. Everything has been reviewed to improve high speed stability, increase durability and provide more grip when cornering. The American manufacturer’s new tyre also features the “Cool Cushion Layer” technology, whereby different layers in the tyre’s construction help to reduce tread deformation while controlling temperature. This leads to reduced rolling resistance and improved fuel efficiency.
