Product description
The Firestone Winterhawk 4 is Winter tyre designed for a wide range of cars, offering a safe ride on wet and snow covered roads.
Snow. A high number of lateral grooves in the shoulder area and zig-zag sipes provide the biting edges required for the tyre to deliver more grip on snow covered roads. This results in 7% more traction than the Winterhawk 3. Shorter braking distances on snowy roads thanks to the optimised contact pressure.
Rain. Water is quickly dispersed through grooves that open towards the outside of the directional tread. Wet braking distances are 4% shorter compared with its predecessor. The tyre has a B-rating on the EU tyre label.
TACKLE WINTER ROADS WITH THE FIRESTONE WINTERHAWK 4
With the Winterhawk 4, Firestone launches its new generation of winter tyres based on insights provided by drivers. More grip and improved wet braking performance, rewarded with a B rating on the European tyre label, this tyre delivers very good value for money.
A reliable winter tyre
The Winterhawk 3 winter tyre bows out to the new Winterhawk 4. Designed for passenger cars and SUVs, it delivers excellent performance in all weather conditions that can be expected in winter. Rain, snow, ice, wet roads, etc. the Firestone Winterhawk is engineered for unpredictable winter weather conditions.
To develop the perfect winter tyre, drivers have guided Firestone on what they need to drive on winter roads. To meet their needs, the American tyre brand has focused on various aspects of tyre technology:
- The structure of the tread pattern to provide optimal control on snow and ice
- Lateral grooves on the shoulder and a zig-zag groove to improve grip on snow and ice
- 7% more traction than the Winterhawk 3 winter tyre.
(Tyre manufacturer Bridgestone, which owns Firestone, conducted comparison tests in Sweden with a VW Golf fitted with Winterhawk 3 and 4 winter tyres in the size 225/45 R17.)
- Wet braking distances are 4% shorter than with its predecessor. The Winterhawk 4 even obtained a B-rating on the European tyre label.
(This test was conducted by TÜV SÜD on the request of Bridgestone in Germany with a VW Golf fitted with Winterhawk 3 and 4 tyres in the size 225/45.)
“Firestone has always delivered value for money tyres that offer strong and reliable performance for a safe journey. Above any other, winter is the season that brings the greatest driving challenges. Performing in the snow, wet and ice, the Winterhawk 4, Firestone’s latest winter tyre, is designed to help European drivers overcome these challenges and stay safe and in control on winter roads in all weather conditions,” said Emilio Tiberio, Chief Technical Officer at Bridgestone EMIA.
Available tyre sizes
The new Firestone Winterhawk winter tyre is available in 94 sizes for 14 to 20 inch rims. Firestone wants to increase its market coverage by proposing 17 inch rim sizes and above.
What is the rezulteo score?
The rezulteo score is calculated considering three performance categories: economy, comfort and safety. When it comes to winter tyres, the performance criteria snow and ice are added. By weighting different basic performance criteria an overall score is determined. This weighting is calculated based on the tyre size category: economic, high performance or sports.
