Designed for MPVs, compact and sports cars as a replacement for the ContiSportContact 5 and ContiPremiumContact 5, the Continental PremiumContact 6 combines sporty handling and safety with high mileage performance.

Sportiness. Precise steering response and additional grip when cornering thanks to the shoulder design and asymmetrical tread rib geometry to transfer lateral forces.

Safety. The tread compound features synthetic silica to shorten braking distances on wet roads, resulting in an A-rating on the EU tyre label.

Tyre life. The tyre can cover 15% more miles compared to the ContiSportContact 5 and ContiPremiumContact 5 thanks to an active polymer in the tread compound that offers a higher resistance to wear.

SPORT AND COMFORT WITH CONTINENTAL’S NEW PREMIUMCONTACT 6

Is the German tyre manufacturer’s new tyre the perfect compromise? Designed to replace the ContiPremiumContact 5 and ContiSportContact 5, Continental’s PremiumContact 6 summer tyre has been launched in early 2017.

Looking for comfort and dynamic handling 

'With this tyre we were out to bridge the gap between a sedan tyre with high ride comfort and a tyre for sporty cars,” explains Catarina Silva, Product Manager for the German tyre manufacturer. It was therefore necessary to come up with new solutions to provide optimum safety and high ride comfort, and design a tread pattern delivering better handling performance.   

As such, the PremiumContact 6 compound has been developed to combine comfort with a precise steering response, maximum safety and good environmental and noise properties.

An innovative tread pattern 

The combination of an abrasion resistant polymer compound with a supple tread pattern offers improvements of up to 15 percent for handling performance, rolling resistance and comfort compared to its predecessor. To improve handling, Continental’s engineers have adopted the shoulder design from the SportContact 6 model and combined it with the asymmetric tread geometry. This asymmetric structure improves performances when negotiating a series of corners, when lateral forces must be transferred quickly. 

Tyre with an A rating for wet grip

Rolling noise has been reduced by 10% and speed ratings go as high as 300 km/h. Yet, Continental has not forgotten its speciality: wet roads. For this, thanks to a new compound that includes synthetic amorphous silica, the PremiumContact 6 obtains the same results as its predecessor, the ContiSportContact 5, and achieves the top “A” rating on the EU Tyre Label. 

Continental, who expects a high demand in the replacement market for this type of product, will propose the PremiumContact 6 in 70 sizes with rim diameters from 16 to 21 inches and widths from 195 to 275 mm.
