2015 Michelin CrossClimate Test: L’Argus

The first magazine to test the Michelin CrossClimate was the French publication “L’Argus”. In 2015, it organised a comparison test of all season tyres where 5 all season tyres were pitted against each other and compared with a winter tyre, the Nokian WR D4, and a summer tyre, the Michelin Primacy 3. The size selected for this test was the popular 205/55 R16. The Michelin CrossClimate performed well in this first comparison test and finished 3rd in the ranking, and as always, obtained a good score on dry and wet surfaces but showed shortcomings on snow.

2016 Michelin CrossClimate Tests: Auto Zeitung, ACE, GF, Auto Bild, ADAC.

In 2016, no less than 5 publications tested the Michelin CrossClimate in the size 205/55 R16: the German magazines Auto Zeitung, ACE, AutoBild and Gute Fahrt, as well as the automobile club ADAC.

During its 2016 test, Auto Zeitung compared 13 winter tyres and one all season tyre, the Michelin CrossClimate. Even if the competition was stiff, the CrossClimate did quite well and finished 4th in the ranking, at the same level as the Goodyear UltraGrip 9 and Michelin Alpin 5 winter tyres.

The Auto Club Europe magazine, ACE Lenkrad selected 10 all season tyres in the size 205/55 R16 for its 2016 comparison test. The Michelin CrossClimate obtained the best score in dry conditions and finished 3rd in the overall ranking, just behind the Nokian WeatherProof and the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen 2

The Michelin CrossClimate moved up one place in the all season tyre comparison test conducted by the German magazine Gute Fahrt. It finished 2nd in the ranking and once again stood out with its good performances in dry conditions.

And finally, 1st place! In 2016, the Michelin CrossClimate was the overall winner of all season tyre tests conducted by the Auto Bild magazine and the automobile club ADAC in the size 205/55 R16. Mainly thanks to its good handling in dry and wet conditions, its low rolling resistance and high mileage.

The size selected for this test was the 205/55 R16. The Michelin CrossClimate tied with the Continental WinterContact TS860 for first place. It obtained the best scores of the comparison test on dry surfaces and finished second in wet handling tests.

2018 Michelin CrossClimate Test: Auto Navigator

The Hungarian magazine Auto Navigator conducted an unusual test in 2018. It chose the size 205/55 R16 to compare 14 summer tyres with an all season tyre, the Michelin CrossClimate, a winter tyre, a worn winter tyre and a worn summer tyre. Even if the Michelin CrossClimate finished the test in 9th place, it achieved very good results for dry braking performance and wet and dry handling tests, and won the rolling noise test

Michelin CrossClimate 215/60 R17 Test

For its 2016 all season tyre test, the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport chose the size 215/60 R17, very common on SUVs and 4x4s. It pitted four all season tyres against each other and compared them with a summer tyre, the Continental Premium Contact 5, and a winter tyre, the Continental WinterContact TS850 P SUV.

The Michelin CrossClimate finished the test in 2nd place, behind the Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen-2, but it was by far the best in this comparison test for its performances in dry conditions.

Michelin CrossClimate 225/50 R17 Test

In 2017, the Michelin CrossClimate won the German magazine Auto Bild test again, but this time in the size 225/50 R17. It shared the top spot with the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 and showed that it was just as good as a summer tyre on dry surfaces. Its short braking distance on wet surfaces and its low rolling resistance allowed it to obtain such a good result.
