Bespoke tyre for Hyundai’s hot hatch

Create the “perfect fit”, this is Pirelli’s philosophy when it comes to original equipment. For the new Hyundai i30 N, the Italian manufacturer has developed a P Zero tyre tuned to the car’s technical requirements, as it did previously for the i20 model.

The i30 N, with its 275 hp, 2.0 litre turbo-charged engine, is the Korean manufacturer’s first hot hatchback. Reliable, high performance tyres are crucial in this segment, which is why Pirelli has developed a tailor-made version of its P Zero especially for the i30 N.  Multiple tests were carried out to ensure that the tyre could deliver lasting performance on a car that is suitable for both daily commuting and track day use.  The new hot hatch will be released towards the end of 2017.

To indicate Hyundai’s approval, the special version of the Pirelli P Zero for the Hyundai i30 N will come with the marking "HN" on its sidewall, yet another homologation for a tyre manufacturer known for its sporty side. The tyre will be available in size 235/35 R19.

Pirelli’s “perfect fit” strategy involves developing a specific tyre for each vehicle model. The Italian tyre manufacturer announced at the Frankfurt International Motor Show that, in August alone, it had supplied original equipment tyres for 110 new vehicles.
