Solus KL21 is the original equipment tyre

Kumho stays with Mercedes-Benz. The South Korean tyre manufacturer has announced it will continue to supply the G-Class  with its tyres as original equipment. The Solus KL21 has been chosen in the size 265/60 R18 110H to equip the new generation of the German carmaker's premium SUV. Kumho has worked closely with Mercedes-Benz to propose a tyre that meets the expectations of owners of high performance vehicles. This is why the Solus KL21 tyre for the G-Class SUV offers outstanding driving comfort. According to the South Korean tyre manufacturer, its micro-silica tread compound delivers outstanding grip on wet and dry roads. The Solus KL21 also offers a low rolling resistance and optimised wear.

“This contract shows our development performance and our expertise in manufacturing tyres" said Junro Song, President of Kumho Tire Europe. “Thanks to a close cooperation, Kumho continually maintains a level of technical knowledge that few tyre manufacturers have. To develop and test tyres for new generation vehicles, means for example, conducting experiments using the latest technologies and materials to design tyres that are even lighter or tyres with a lower rolling resistance [...] or even tyre sizes that are not yet available on the market.” Experience from working with manufacturers leads to other improvements for Kumho, says Junro Song. “The knowledge acquired from these experiments also helps improve existing products, for example, incorporating a new rubber compound into a current production tyre. This is why we intend to expand our cooperation with Mercedes-Benz in the future.”
