An ultra high performance summer tyre for SUVs

For the third generation of its X3 crossover, BMW has chosen to work with South Korean manufacturer, Kumho. The German brand has selected Crugen HP91 tyres as original equipment for its new SUV. Tyres in the 245/50 R19 105W XL size will be delivered directly to BMW’s plant in South Carolina where the new X3 is manufactured. The models will then be shipped across the Atlantic to be sold on the European market, where this type of mid-sized SUV is in high demand.

A technical partnership between BMW and Kumho

As is the practice for many original fitments, BMW and Kumho worked together to supply tailor made tyres for the X3. Kumho, which already supplies OE tyres for the BMW 1-Series, 2-Series and 3-Series models, has refined the performance of its Crugen HP91 tyre in line with the technical features of the X3. According to Kumho, the tyre’s latest generation silica tread compound will provide excellent handling characteristics on all surfaces, in both wet and dry conditions, topped off by short braking distances.
