After the American tyre manufacturer Goodyear, it is Bridgestone’s turn to supply the new Audi e-tron as original equipment. The Japanese tyre manufacturer will supply tyres in six different sizes for 19 to 21 inch rim diameters. Four summer tyres and two winter tyres specially developed for this all-electric SUV will be available.

Specific specifications for electric vehicles

As is always the case for original equipment partnerships, Bridgestone prepared a list of Audi’s requirements for its new vehicle. Driven by 2 electric motors that deliver up to 265 kW and 561 Nm of torque, the new e-tron delivers excellent acceleration, even for an electric vehicle: the SUV speeds up in 0-62mph in under six seconds.

This is why Bridgestone has proposed a special version of its Alenza 001 summer tyre for the e-tron. A tyre which is normaly not on the market in Europe. Its excellent dry and wet performances allow it to deliver dynamic handling and stability. For the Audi e-tron, the Bridgestone Alenza has an A rating on the European tyre labelfor wet grip, and the same rating for rolling resistance. Characteristics which are perfect for electric vehicles, and in particular, for the e-tron SUV.

For winter, Blizzak LM 001 has supplied its Blizzak LM 001 which delivers a high level of grip in wet dry, icy, snowy and slushy conditions thanks to its rubber compound.

For these tyres, Bridgestone also proposes the “B-Silenttechnology which significantly reduces in-vehicle noise. An important feature for an all-electric vehicle such as the Audi e-tron which is extremely silent thanks to its near-silent motor and sound proofing.

“Audi has created a vehicle that is innovative, environmentally friendly and offers incredible driving comfort”, says Mark Tejedor, Vice President of Original Equipment at Bridgestone EMEA. “It is only logical that it is being paired with Bridgestone tyres that offer the same characteristics. In an industry in rapid transformation, Bridgestone delivers new solutions and technologies answering car manufacturer’s most demanding challenges, thanks notably to our industry’s leading investments in R&D”.
