Product description
The Winguard Sport 2 tyre launched on the market by the Nexen manufacturer is intended for urban situations and expressway use as soon as temperatures drop below seven degrees Celsius. It is appropriate for vehicles with a high-level engine power.
Models including the "One Way Rotation" marking on the sidewall offer only direction of rotation. Finally, it is available with the "M+S" and "3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF)" labels, which demonstrates the tyre can be used to drive on very steep paths but also on roads covered with snow.
This product will deliver you high handling for driving with a focus on sportiness. Indeed, this tyre provides short dry braking distances as well as excellent grip in dry weather. It is ideal with vehicles with a quality engine capacity.
NEXEN WINGUARD SPORT 2: PERFORMANCE IN WINTER CONDITIONS
Balance. This is Nexen’s main objective for the Winguard Sport 2. With this ultra-high performance tyre, designed for sports cars and high performance vehicles, the Korean tyre manufacturer wants to offer a product that performs equally well in dry, wet, snowy and icy conditions. And, this is no easy feat when considering that these different driving conditions require different tyre characteristics.
Improved performance
The successor to the Nexen Winguard Sport is ambitious. According to the manufacturer, the tyre boasts improvements in several areas thanks to significant innovations.
The Winguard Sport 2 has a high silica tread compound to deliver well-balanced performance in wet conditions. The new polymer blend allows the compound to remain flexible at low temperatures and achieve better performance on snow and ice compared to its predecessor.
The tyre has a V-shaped tread pattern, designed to quickly clear water and provide good aquaplaning resistance. There are Zig-zag circumferential grooves on either side of the centre tread to improve the tyre’s grip in snow.
Performance is also enhanced by Nexen’s “3D Winter Kerf” technology, consisting of a serrated design in the grooves, which allows tread blocks to remain stiff in dry conditions.
According to Nexen, sipes on the tyre’s shoulder blocks produce a greater lateral force for increased stability when driving on slippery roads. As a result, the tyre offers a smoother and more stable drive in wet and snowy conditions.
The Nexen Winguard Sport 2 also carries the “Three Peak Mountain SnowFlake” (3PMSF) marking which confirms its winter performance.
Availability
The Nexen Winguard Sport 2 is available in 26 sizes for 17 to 19-inch rim diameters.
What is the rezulteo score?
The rezulteo score is calculated considering three performance categories: economy, comfort and safety. When it comes to winter tyres, the performance criteria snow and ice are added. By weighting different basic performance criteria an overall score is determined. This weighting is calculated based on the tyre size category: economic, high performance or sports.
