The latest in a list of new tyres

After the Turanza T005, the Weather Control A005 and the Blizzak LM005, here is the Blizzak Ice. In less than 2 years, Bridgestone has completely renewed its tyre offer for passenger cars. The Japanese tyre manufacturer has presented its new Nordic tyre, capable of coping with the most severe winter conditions to replace the Blizzak WS80.

And like for its summer tyre, the Turanza T005, Bridgestone started by questioning drivers to understand their needs. Longevity and environmental friendliness were highlighted as being the main preoccupations of European drivers. This study also revealed their needs in terms of grip, whether in urban conditions or on open roads. Bridgestone’s main objective was to develop a tyre capable of braking safely and maintaining control even on ice on snow.

A tyre suitable for Nordic winters

Engineered with a new tread compound, the Bridgestone Blizzak Ice is designed to remain efficient even in the harshest winter conditions. The Japanese tyre manufacturer also uses its patented “Multicell” technogy. This name hides a hydrophilic formula capable of attracting water and removing ice and black ice away from the surface. This considerably improves tyre grip in the most difficult driving conditions.

With this new feature, Bridgestone promises 8% shorter braking distances than its predecessor and a 25% longer tyre life. With this tyre, the Japanese tyre manufacture also announces superior ride comfort thanks to a specially redesigned tread pattern. The various grooves are designed to disperse air flows and reduce rolling resistance.

The Bridgestone Blizzak Ice Nordic winter tyre will be available before the end of the year in 37 sizes for rim diameters ranging from 14 to 19 inches. 25 other sizes will follow in 2020, to cover 86% of the replacement market.
