Pirelli and McLaren have announced their partnership for the British brand’s new vehicle. Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres have been chosen as original equipment for the McLaren 600LT.
A bespoke tyre for the track
Pirelli and McLaren join forces again! After the Sienna, the two brands will work together on the new 600LT. The Italian tyre manufacturer will supply bespoke tyres for this sports car from the “Longtail” (LT) family, synonymous with fast and sporty at McLaren.
Presented at the Goodwood “Festival of Speed” this year, the McLaren 600LT with its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 600 hp only needs 2.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 329 km/h! The British car manufacturer also says that it can brake from 200 km/h to a standstill in just 117 metres. Suffice to say that Pirelli has pulled out the stops for this partnership.
If a P Zero tyre specially created for the 600LT is available as original equipment, the McLaren sports car can also be fitted with P Zero Trofeo R tyres, road-legal but developed for the track. The Italian tyre manufacturer has focused on sporty driving performances to deliver maximum grip on the straight and when cornering. According to McLaren, the result is a direct connection with the road once behind the wheel and an instant steering response.
Fast driving and McLaren fans will have to spend at least 232 000€ before the French ecotax to buy the 600LT. This price includes the right to one day of track training with a professional driver to learn how to tame the beast.
