Hankook, Formula E tyre partner from 2022

The Hankook brand will replace Michelin as the Formula E tyre supplier for the new 2022 season. Its involvement in sustainable development and energy savings is in line with the FIA’s commitment for the only all-electric car race in the world.

The FIA (International Automobile Federation) recently announced that Hankook will become the official Formula E tyre supplier for the 2022-2023 season.

The South Korean brand will equip the electric racing cars with its tyres. Hankook is already involved in motorsports with the DTM and W Series, and even the eSport virtual races! From the 2022 season, Hankook will fit its tyres on the new version of the Gen3 single seaters. The latest model of the electric racing car will have a power output of 350 kW, which is equivalent to 475 hp. It will be more powerful than the previous version which has a power output of 250 kW.

Taking place in the world’s largest cities, Formula E is the only all-electric race series. With this partnership, Hankook wants to confirm its involvement in protecting the environment: sustainable tyres, using bio-sourced materials capable of delivering the highest level of performance.

Hankook will replace Michelin, which has taken part in Formula E since it started in 2014 and will continue to do so until 2021. The Korean tyre manufacturer places great importance on this races series and in particular, shares the FIA’s tendency to work on sustainability and energy efficiency. The tyre brand received the Platinum Award, the highest honour of the renowned EcoVadis agency for its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives.
