The European Commission wants to improve the EU tyre labelling legislation. The project consists in providing more information on the tyre label. The addition of new criteria such as mileage, resistance to abrasion, grip on snow and ice will raise the consumer’s awareness allowing him to choose the best tyre for his vehicle. The new version of the label will also bring energy savings and reduced fuel consumption. The new feature? The label will be introduced on tyres for heavy duty vehicles, not covered until now.

Bridgestone dreams of sending its tyres into space: tyre manufacturer Bridgestone will take part in a space mission with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Their aim is to develop tyres that can roll on the lunar surface. The tyre brand will study the composition of the lunar surface so that space exploration vehicles, better known as “rovers” can explore this difficult surface. Still in the early stages, Bridgestone is already working on an elastic wheel concept suitable for a space exploration vehicle.
